The Witch of Blackbird Pond

Standard

I’ve started reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond, a really good book written by Elizabeth George Speare. It’s about a girl named Kit who had to move to Connecticut to live with her aunt and uncle. She once lived with her grandfather on the island of Barbados, but that time has ended. Her grandfather is dead. So are her mother and father. They have been for years. Now she lives in Connecticut even though she doesn’t want to. Where else could she go? She has no other family. That doesn’t mean that she can’t try to make friends. She has her cousins, Judith and Mercy, a little girl named Prudence, a boy named Nathaniel, or Nat, another boy named John, and Hannah. Hannah Tupper is an old woman who lives alone by Blackbird Pond. Everyone thinks Hannah is a witch. Only Kit, Nat, and Prudence know she is not, but they can’t do anything to prove it. If anyone finds out that they are friends of a Quaker witch, they could lose everything! Can Kit still be friends with Hannah? Or will she tell her family? If you want to know, get The Witch of Blackbird Pond! 😀

I love the book so far, and I think anyone over the age of eight would enjoy it, but that’s just me. Don’t you just love books? Happy reading! ❤ -Grace
