We had a fabulous Father’s Day here at the Homeschool Hijinks house! Even though the day was all about Daddy, Grace and I had some fun…and some new learning experiences. 🙂
Daddy got pear trees for Father’s Day! We all learned quite a bit about planting trees correctly … something new for the whole family. 🙂
Something we don’t do often … greasy, grimy fast food deliciousness. 😀
We all enjoyed playing some putt putt at a local park. 😀
Happy Father’s Day again to an incredible husband and father…you’re the awesomest! 😀
Grace painted a beautiful picture for her mom for Mother’s Day! We bought a really cool kit that included the canvas (with a very light outline of the hummingbird and flowers), all the needed paints and brushes, and information about painting techniques. Grace worked really hard and did a fantastic job with one of her first painting efforts. 😀
Today was Second Christmas at our house. (Grace alternates between her two houses for Christmas day. This year, she was at her mom’s on the official day, so we celebrated again today.) For all of the other Second Christmas celebrators (for whatever the reason), we wish you a Merry Second Christmas! Ours was fantastic, and we hope yours was, too. 😀
Preparing the snacks.
Treats for Santa, Santa Mouse, and the reindeer.
Everyone ate their snacks…yay! 🙂
Santa Mouse left a gift in the tree. 😀
Grace detests Justin Bieber, so I thought it would be fun to torment her by planting him right in the top of her stocking. 😀
Sleepyhead finally gets out of bed! 😉
Not so excited about the Bieber puzzle. Strange, that. 😀
Loving her new journal!
Very happy to get that iTunes gift card!
Frank just can’t believe how awesome Second Christmas is. 😀
Puttin’ the Biebs together. 😀
Each day, Frank asks us for a dollar so he can go buy a cheeseburger. (Don’t question the dog asking us for money. 😉 ) As a Second Christmas present, we gave him a dollar and a ride to the drive through. Yep, he got his cheeseburger…plain, no bun. 😀
We won’t actually be celebrating Christmas with Grace here until Thursday, but I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas on the official day, so:
Merry Christmas!!!! I hope all of you who celebrate Christmas are having a wondrous and magical day! 😀
I’m sure we’ll be sharing some of our “Second Christmas” festivities with you on Thursday. 😉
Last year at Thanksgiving we decided to use our chalkboard table to document all of things we were thankful for. This year we decided to make it an annual tradition. Before packing up to go to Grandma’s house, we covered our table in the oh-so-many things we are grateful for. Frank even got his own section since he has so much to be thankful for. 🙂
We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and has all that they need to be thankful for! 😀
We are having a pretty laid back day for Halloween, but we have had some educational, spooky fun. 😉
We started our day with reading some Edgar Allan Poe stories and poems. Then Grace read about zombies and other spooky topics in Muse magazine. (Thanks to Amy and crew at Turning Over a New Leaf!)
It’s important to brush up on your zombie knowledge at every opportunity! 😉
Of course, the real fun was on Monday with our pumpkin carving. We planned our pumpkin in our traditional way, but Daddy let Grace play a way bigger part in creating a template and carving.
We always start our carving ritual with each of us drawing a face for our pumpkin.
Then we take a family vote on best eyes, nose, and mouth.
Then…presto, whammo! We have a jack-o-lantern. 😀
All of the “Grace carving” and “Grace cleaning a pumpkin” pictures are currently on her Daddy’s phone…I’ll be sharing those this weekend in “The Week in Pictures.” Until then, amuse yourself with this bit of artwork Grace created from the Halloween candy:
Happy Halloween!!! We hope everyone has a super-fun and safe night!
Due to some scheduling oddities, Grace won’t be blogging this evening….don’t worry, she’ll be back tomorrow. 🙂 Since we had such a fantastic day today (outdoor cooking, geocaching, Victorian Valentine’s Day, enjoying the water), I thought I would do a “Day in Pictures.” I’ll include more shots from these outings this weekend (you wouldn’t want to miss “When Pigs Attack”), but, for now, here are a few of my favorites from the day. Happy Valentine’s Day! 🙂
